Monthly Club Meetings

The regular club meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church on Miccosukee Rd. Head out Miccosukee Rd., cross Capital Circle NE, and the entrance will be the first one on your right. Once you park, follow the sidewalk around the left side of the building and go down the hill. We meet in a room on the first level.

NOTE: At the April meeting it was voted to have the monthly meetings at the field with a cookout beforehand. This will be the norm  until the fall, weather and bugs permitting.

Club Fun-Fly Series

There will be a new Club Fun-Fly Series starting this spring. The first event is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2008. The events to be flown will be drawn from a hat and announced at the monthly meeting and the Fun-Fly will take place on the following Saturday. This will be a "single aircraft" series and the model chosen is the World Models Sky Raider Mach II (low wing) (see http://www.airborne-models.com/html/productdetails.asp?ProductID=16). These are available from Hobbytown USA at a special price. The engine limitation will be .46 cu in displacement. The intent is to make this a "pilot's contest" and to remove the variability associated with allowing different models and engine sizes.

The cumulative scores for the series are shown are shown here.

AirFest 2008

Once again, EAA Chapter 445 is sponsoring AirFest 2008 at the Tallahassee Regional Airport on May 17-18, 2008. As in previous years, the Club will be participating in a static demo and also flying electric park flyers as we did last year. Volunteers are needed to help set up the display area, take part in the static displays, and fly some demos. The web site for the event is at www.airfest2008.com

May 19, 2008: AirFest 2008 was a great success! We had a lot of traffic by our tables and much interest generated for the Flying For A Cure event. On behalf of Chapter 445 of the Experimental Aircraft Association I would like to thank all who helped make this event a success.   Jeff Owens
