Words From The Prez Richard Wynn
Since our last newsletter we have had two successful events at the field, a sailplane contest and the helicopter clinic. I will not take up much time on these as I expect Dave and Martin will send in articles. However, I would like to say that its great to see these types of events occurring and I hope we see more events in the near future. Now that we are in daylight savings time, I hope that we can get the training night started again. Last year, training night ran on Thursdays and seemed to be quite successful in relieving the bottleneck of new pilots waiting for instructors on the weekends. Sebastian is our training coordinator, so if you or someone you know needs instruction please contact our illustrious VP for details. Judd Curtis has recommended a two-year lease extension for SRCC. The vote on our extension will take place at the April 23rd Leon County Commission meeting. By the time you read this we will have the outcome of the vote we will discuss this at our next meeting. A real estate agent is currently searching for alternate flying fields. We have one possibility so far -- a 27-acre area off route 12; we will make arrangements to visit this as soon as we can to see if this warrants further investigation. FYI for those of you who are curious, Mac Hodges has a new B29. Its maiden flight was on April 13.

Those who have witnessed it say it is bigger, faster, and more maneuverable that his last one. So if you thought he did an awesome demo before, you should make arrangements to see him fly his new one!
Field Lease Renewed Jeff Owens
As noted in Richard's column, the Leon County Commission met Tuesday April 23. One item on the agenda was the recommendation to renew our lease at the Landfill for another two years. I am glad to be able to relay to you that this agenda item was approved without discussion. So, we should have another two years at the present location, provided that we do nothing to jeopardize it--such as continuing to fly over the weigh station. We all must be on our guard to watch out for and prevent unsafe flying at the (Continued on page 2)
